So we're here, half way across the world. It still hasn't hit me that we're here in Tracy's apartment in Canada. I've always said one day I'd come here but who would've thought that day is now. I'm not really sure of the time either, whether we're still living in LA time, but all I know is that it's late at night and it's a Saturday night.
Before we arrived to Toronto, we've actually spent a day in LA at Ryan's cousins place in Santa Monica. So much to say about this place - one day (more like one afternoon) cruising about in a convertible Mustang, wind in our hair and listening to tunes of LA artists on the radio. Our first stop was the most-talked about eatery called 'In and Out' right near the airport, and the burgers totally lived up to the hype! Afterwards we headed a few blocks to an outlet store called 'Citadel', which had me eyeing out sooo much clothes at one of my fave European inspired stored 'HnM' because it was surprisingly so cheap like you would've believe. When I say cheap, I mean yes, they are pricey but not compared to our prices. Our pockets were still full but our eyes were still hungry so we drove down to The Promenade on Third Street, and that strip was cool. So cool, I bought a much needed coat at HnM for only (wait for it...) $60!!! the style, the material is most probably equivalent to at least $150 back home hands down. I love America already hehe.
As the sun was beginning to set, a perfect trip to the Santa Monica pier would've been nice but the fog was too thick to see the water, so we then headed a little further up to Ryan's cousins place where we would stay with Laurie Jane for the time we would be in LA. She is a lovely person, to say the least :) That night, her bf Erick took us to a Brazilian Restaurant called Bossa Nova where we had Brazilian food for the first time. It is very similar to Italian dishes, but so good. For dessert, we tried the famous 'Yoghurtland'. Can I also add very cheap! For I don't know how many ounces, for 3 cups I only paid US$5.30 - and these were pretty big ice-cream cups. Afterwards, they toured us around the UCLA campus where we saw the frat houses and student dorms - all in a topdown Mustang, of course.
So far, we've only been for 2 days and it kinda feels like we've been away for at least a week already. Looking forward to tomorrow, spending the day around Toronto and visiting the night markets with Tracy and Minelle :)
